Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 I was taken to XXXX XXXX Hospital ER seen by the ER doctors who admitted me. Upon arrival, registration came to my room to assure they had the proper insurance information/address on file, scanned in my insurance card, and my drivers license. My XXXX Insurance is covered by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX through my retirement company, XXXX. My drivers license had the correct address XXXX, OH. The hospital billed XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for the date of serviceXX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX ; and received payment in full. My insurance card/license both were scanned in the ER Room by the hospital registration. I never received any bills at my address, never received any phone calls until XX/XX/2018, when I got a call from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX telling me that the XXXX Hospital ER Doctors sent me to collections for {$1100.00}. I told XXXX in collections, I have insurance, my insurance will pay all of that bill, & my insurance card/drivers license with my address were scanned in the ER room upon arrival. It was discovered after our in depth discussion XXXX billing for ER doctors errored, they never billed my insurance company, & had a non existent address on file for me that I have not resided at in over 3 years. Since the ER doctors work in the ER room at the XXXX Hospital, & they scanned my health insurance card/drivers license with all the right info for payment to be processed there was no reason for them to not have billed my insurance carrier. XXXX told me she will try to put the bill through to my ins but if they don’t pay it due to the time lapsed for billing I am going to be liable for this bill. I called XXXX billing spoke to XXXX, she stated they billed XXXX XXXX directly, & it was rejected by XXXX they stated I had other health insurance coverage. I told her my XXXX coverage is under XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX & that card was scanned in the ER at XXXX Hospital XX/XX/18. She stated they sent a notice to XXXX MI where I have not resided in over 3 years. I told her XXXX Hospital has my accurate address they scanned my license/insurance on XX/XX/18. She stated there was nothing they could do its in collections its up to them to get payment from insurance, or me to avoid it going on my credit report. I called XXXX Hospital Billing supervisor who told me this is error of XXXX Billing for the ER doctors at XXXX Hospital for failure to use the accurate insurance information/address that they have on file which was scanned in XX/XX/18 in the ER Room.I called my ins company to see if XXXX billed them for XX/XX/18 they stated they did not. I was told to XXXX billing tell them to send the bill to them with explanation they billed XXXX directly. I called again, talked to XXXX, she stated they wont rebill anything the collection agency has to, it is up to me to work with them to prevent the unpaid bill going on my credit report.
