Can I Trust Shane Walker From Fidelity Legal Group?

By on January 4, 2019

Question:

Dear Steve,

I spent 20 minutes or more on the phone last night with a gentleman who called himself Shane Walker. After getting some VERY BASIC information. he said your legal firm would be the company that would represent me in a consumer-debt settlement plan should my wife and I apply. Mr. Walker was knowledgeable and courteous, and before I go further, I said I would do some checking.

Does Fidelity Legal Group offer this service, through Shane Walker and others, and how can I get the information I need without divulging too much to an unsolicited caller?

John

Answer:

Dear John,

That’s alarming on several levels.

First, I do not provide the services you describe. I am not a legal firm and certainly not Fidelity Legal Group.

Second, if you received an unsolicited call pitching you debt relief services then you should assume it is from someone trying to sell you some service. That is probably the last place to look for unbiased advice regarding your situation.

I did visit the Fidelity Legal Group website at and noticed they have some sort of “field agent” link. That may represent they are using field agents for in-person meetings which is a trick some advanced fee debt relief groups have used in the past to charge fees before delivering the service.

I did a quick search and the State of Indiana says the CEO is Ryan Worden. The State Bar Association of Indiana does not show any attorney by that name who is licensed in that state.

I would recommend that anyone considering using such a company should read the following free guides to check out the company before leaping.

It is a mystery how you got to me from a sales call for Fidelity Legal Group.
