New Freshstart Debt Relief Mailer

By on October 1, 2018

A reader sent in a debt relief mailer they received from Freshstart. You can see past mailers here.

The new mailer seems to be a bit more cryptic about what their “popular debt resolution program” really is. But the fine print on the back seems to indicate Freshstart may be a lead generation referral service. The faint fine print says, “Consumer may be referred to a Non-Profit [or] For-Profit Company upon detailed analysis of current financial state. These are not government endorsed or sponsored programs, nor aligned with any governmental agency. This offer is not associated with bankruptcy, debt consolidation loan.”

The front of the mailer says you “may be completely debt free in as little as 24 months” and “Fresh Start in only 12-24 months.”

Yet it seems the mailer can lead to a referral to outside companies and it would be interesting to learn if all referral companies meet those same timelines.

My opinion is that while the mailer says it is not associated with bankruptcy or debt consolidation loans, it may be confusing when it uses solution related language like “fresh start” which is often used in association with bankruptcy and “consolidate” which may be thought of as a consolidation loan.

The mailer has some of the same issues I mentioned before, like not listing the address of the company on the inside or on the envelope.
