I have an account with Progressive Debt Relief to help with two loans. When I requested the balance of one of the loan’s I noticed it was almost $1000 more than what I originally owed. Then I noticed a fee of $451.67 to the company and I was told I would receive a “welcome package” that I had to pay $206 for and I never received it. I currently have $480.75 in escrow account.
I want to know how to get the money returned to me from the escrow account and can I get a refund for the $206 for the package I never received?
Progressive Debt Relief at progressivedebtrelief.com appears to sell a debt settlement program. If you enroll debts in a debt settlement program and stop paying your creditors, the balances owed will increase.
Enrollment in such a program will impact your credit.
As Progressive Debt Relief says:
All of the issues you describe may already be addressed in the client agreement you signed when you enrolled in their services.
If they have taken money from your escrow account or charged you for something in advance of reaching a settlement agreement with your creditors, that can be problematic.
Rather than leaping to becoming outraged, I think you will find my guide How to Get Your Money Back From a Debt Relief Company if You Feel Like You’ve Been Scammed gives you clear instructions to follow.
As you will see, the very first step in my guide to request a refund is “Start with the company you are having an issue with. Give them a chance to deal with your issue and if you can’t negotiate a resolution that seems acceptable to both you and the company then it’s time to start documenting your concerns.”
If you want to know how to get your money back, Progressive Debt Relief and/or the escrow company holding your funds.
Your next step will be to figure out if you were misled by your salesperson or the company. If you get stonewalled by the company or no response, my guide gives you steps you can take to escalate the issue.
