Consumer Complaint: I had enrolled at XXXX XXXX College for the fall semester of XXXX, taking 1 class. Less than 1 week into the class I received notice from my employer that my position would be terminated. With that in mind, I dropped the class I was enrolled in. I dropped the class on XXXX XXXX, XXXX – the deadline for dropping a class and receiving a full reimbursement ( or a {$0.00} bill if tuition had not yet been paid ) was XXXX XXXX, XXXX. I was very careful to check these dates. Around 6 months later, despite having received no correspondence from XXXX XXXX College regarding an outstanding or past due balance – I find that they have turned the matter over to a debt collector for {$450.00} – despite there being no debt or charges of any kind. Contacting the school got me nowhere, they could confirm the dates I enrolled and dropped the class, but could not confirm the deadline to drop a class with no financial obligation coming back to the student. The information was *still* present on their own XXXX website. I have disputed the debt with the collection agency : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, OH XXXX and each time their response has only been to state ” Meets FCRA Requirements ”.

XXXX XXXX College has verified what dates I enrolled in this class, and what date I dropped the class. They say they can not verify what the deadline was to drop classes in that semester with no financial repurcussions. If they can not verify that date, how can they verify the debt is valid?!
